Guatemala…sin duda uno de mis países favoritos. Éste tiene tantos lugares increíbles que continúa sorprendiéndome en cada visita. En esta ocasión, compartiré un poco sobre su moderna capital y su ciudad colonial.

Para llegar a Ciudad de Guatemala es posible hacerlo a través de avión, carro o bus. No es porque sea de El Salvador que recomendaré que lo ideal fuera salir de El Salvador hacia Guatemala, pero la verdad es que las capitales, San Salvador y Ciudad de Guatemala, están tan cerca que tomar un bus es una buena opción porque te tomará de 4 a 5 horas (dependiendo del tráfico).

Uno de los muchos atractivos de Ciudad de Guatemala es Paseo Cayalá. Éste  es un complejo habitacional y de comercio que brinda opciones de entretenimiento, para todas las edades. Su arquitectura y ambiente te transportarán a un espacio de tranquilidad, para caminar tranquilo por sus calles peatonales. Recomiendo, así como me recomendaron unos guatemaltecos, que planifiques visitarlo desde las 5 p.m. hasta muy noche. ¿Por qué? Porque, así disfrutarás del atardecer y la vida nocturna. Entre las opciones de entretenimiento está el cine, restaurantes, cafés, gimnasio, boutiques, etc. Además cuenta con un auditorio en donde se presentó Andrea Bocelli en octubre del 2013 y una capilla donde ofrecen misas.

Por otro lado, a unos 40 kilómetros de Ciudad de Guatemala se encuentra la bella y colonial Antigua Guatemala; reconocida por la UNESCO como Patrimonio de la Humanidad. Durante el siglo XVII, ésta era el centro de gobierno de la región. Actualmente es visitada por muchos turistas que gustan conocer la arquitectura colonial, caminar por sus calles empedradas, deleitarse de deliciosos platillos típicos o comprar artículos trabajados a mano con tejidos coloridos.

La mejor época para visitar Guatemala y Antigua Guatemala es entre diciembre y febrero porque el clima es más fresco y no hay lluvias; sin embargo, el fervor de la Semana Santa s

e vive diferente y vale la pena estar ahí. Así que si está pensando en visitar estas ciudades en temporada alta (Semana Santa) haz tus reservaciones lo antes posible!

Guatemala…without a doubt it´s one of my favorite countries! It has so many incredible places that keep astonishing me in every visit. In this post, I´ll share about its modern capital and one of the most famous colonial cities.

To get to Guatemala City it is possible to do so by plane, car or bus. It is not that I am from El Salvador but travelling from San Salvador to Guatemala City by bus is a good option considering that both capital cities are just 4 to 5 hours away (depending on traffic).

One of the many attractions in Guatemala City is Paseo Cayalá, which is a residential and commercial center that offers entertainment options for everyone. Its architecture and atmosphere will transfer you to a peaceful place where you can walk carelessly through pedestrian streets. It is recommended that you visit this place from 5 p.m. until late at night. You are probably wondering why! Well, in this way you will be able to be there at sunset and enjoy the night life. Among the options you can are: a movie theater, restaurants, cafés, gym, boutiques, bikes, etc. Paseo Cayalá has also an auditorium where Andrea Bocelli gave a concert in 2013 and a chapel where masses are celebrated.

On the other hand, about 40 kilometers away from Guatemala City you will find the beautiful and colonial Antigua Guatemala; known by the UNESCO as a World Heritage. During the XVII century this city was the center of political power in the region. Currently is mostly visited by tourists who want to know more about colonial architecture, walk along its pedestrian streets, enjoy delicious food, learn Spanish or by hand-made products with colorful

Visit Guatemala and Antigua Guatemala from December to February. The weather is cooler and the rainy season has finished. Nonetheless, if you want to live differently your Holy Week, you should consider making reservations for these days as soon as possible!
