Cuando vives en la ciudad y vas de paseo a una montaña, te sientes tan liberado y lejos de todo el ruido del mundo que quisieras que el tiempo no pasara. Así me sentí al visitar el Hotel y Restaurante Ram Tzul.
Ram Tzul, en español “Espíritu de la montaña”, es un lugar ideal para estar en contacto con la naturaleza. Desde el momento que se entra al hotel y ves que el lobby y restaurante son tan ecológicos te dan la antesala que la experiencia en ese lugar será totalmente diferente.
Las habitaciones, al igual que el lobby y restaurante, tienen una ambientación muy ecológica. Entre las peculiaridades de las habitaciones está que tienen una pequeña sala con muebles hechos de bamboo, tienen ventanas muy grandes en dirección al este; lo cual permite ver un hermoso amanecer, su techo es de madera y para estar complemente conectados con la naturaleza no hay TV ni teléfonos.
El clima en este lugar es muy agradable y por la noche lo es mucho más (es muy fresco para lo friolenta que soy). Así que para entrar en calor, en el restaurante puedes ordenar un delicioso Cacao caliente – la bebida de los reyes. Su sabor es muy natural y hasta se sientes las semillas trituradas de este fruto. Si sientes mucho frío pide que te enciendan una fogata y con mucho gusto el personal del hotel lo hará.
Como este hotel está ubicado en una reserva natural privada debes solicitar en recepción un permiso y un guía para caminar por los senderos. Si es de tu gusto, puedes alquilar caballos para hacer el recorrido. En lo personal, me gustó mucho haber conocido este lugar a pie. Primero entramos a un bosque de bamboo hasta que llegamos a un rio. Aquí aprovechamos para darnos un chapuzón … ¡se imaginarán lo helada que estuvo el agua! Luego caminamos hasta llegar a un mirador y desde ahí se alcanzaba a ver una cascada increíble.
Después de haber subido hasta llegar a ese mirador empezamos a descender por un sendero, para llegar a la cascada. Una vez abajo, es inevitable admirar con qué potencia baja el agua. Mientras estaba asombrada con esta maravilla natural – ¡pum! – ¡una avispa me picó la pierna! Lo bueno es que no soy alérgica y lo consideré como un “toque” de aventura.
Recomiendo visitar Hotel y Restaurante Ram Tzul. Si es posible, haz tu reservación por una noche para que vivas la experiencia de estar en un lugar donde las estrellas brillan con más potencia y el silencio es ensordecedor.

A unique experience at Ram Tzul, Cobán, Guatemala
When you live in the city and you go for a trip at a mountain, you feel so free and away from all the noise and hectic lifestyle that you wish time would stop. This was how I felt at Hotel & Restaurant Ram Tzul.
Ram Tzul, in English “Mountain´s spirit”, is the ideal place if you want to be in contact with nature. Since the moment you walk into the hotel, the lobby and restaurant´s ecological decoration and design advice you that the experience in this place will be totally different.
The rooms | bungaloos, just as the lobby and restaurant, have an ecological design. They have a small living room with furniture made of bamboo, big windows facing east; which allows you to observe beautiful sunrises, wooden roofs; and in order to be completely connected with nature, there are neither telephones nor TV.
The weather at this place is cool and at night it´s even cooler. If you want something to warm you up, ask at the restaurant for a delicious hot Cacao – the drink of the kings. The taste is so natural, nothing compared to the instant cocoa that we´re used to. At the restaurant there are spots where the hotel´s personnel can light up a bonfire.
Since this hotel is located at a prívate natural
reserve, you must ask at reception for permission and for a guide in order to go into the trails. If you would like, you can rent horses for this trip. Personally, I loved to walk instead of doing the horse ride. First, we walked through a bamboo forest until we reached a crystalline river. Here, we decided to swim… mmm… actually I must admit that it was more of a fast dive since the water was really cold! Afterwards we walked uphill to admire an incredible cascade.
After walking uphill to take pictures and admire the forest, we started walking downhill in order to get to the cascade. Once I was in front of the cascade, I was so amazed of such beauty that suddently the sting from a wasp woke me up to reality. The good news is that I´m not allergic to stings so I considered it to be a “touch” of adverture.
I recommend you to visit Hotel & Restaurant Ram Tzul. If it is possible, make your reservation for one night and you´ll be in a place where the stars are bright as diamonds and silence is as loud as a thunder.
