¿Por qué será que nos sentimos más patrióticos que nunca cuando estamos lejos de nuestro país? Seguramente hay muchas razones por las cuales esto sucede, pero, por lo general estas son las más comunes:

1. Extrañamos la comida: si, cuando vamos a otro país por turismo o porque nos has mudado, queremos probar un poco de todo. Por experiencia, muchas veces se llega al punto de decir… “¡Definitivamente extraño comer mis __________ (inserta aquí tu platillo típico favorito, en mi caso, las pupusas)! En ese momento, no paramos de hablar de lo deliciosa que es la comida del país de origen.
2. Nos enorgullece nuestra historia: Por dolorosa e injusta que posiblemente sea la historia de nuestro país de origen, al final, es la historia de nuestra sangre. Cuando estamos lejos de casa, surge de lo más profundo de nosotros un orgullo por quienes somos.
3. Nostalgia: En realidad… todo se resume en nostalgia. Escuchar nuestro himno nacional fuera de nuestro país no es lo mismo que escucharlo donde nacimos; sin embargo, no es necesario ir lejos para sentirnos patrióticos, llevemos los colores de nuestra bandera siempre en nuestro corazón donde sea que estemos.

3 reasons why we are patriotic away from home

How come we feel more patriotic than ever when we are away from the country we were born? There must be many reasons why this is so, but in general, these are the most common:

1. We miss food: yes, when we are in another country either for tourism or because we have moved, we want to try everything! By experience, most of the time you get to the point of saying: I totally miss eating __________ (insert your favorite typical food, in case, pupusas!) In that moment, we just can´t stop talking about how delicious our native food is!

 

2. We are proud of our history: Even if our country´s history is painful and unfair, in the end, it´s the story of our blood…our ancestors. When we are far away from home, a spirit of pride surges from within our hearts.

 

3. Homesickness: In fact, everything sums up in homesickness! Even when we listen to our nation anthem when we are away from home we feel nostalgic! Let us always feel the colors of your flag in our hearts and anywhere we are let´s be proud of who we are and where we come from.
